About

CCC @ UCSD is a cultural based club that welcomes all UCSD students, both undergraduates and graduates.

We are a safe community that encourages everyone to learn about the Cantonese culture and language. Our alternative name is DHYC, which is the abbreviation for Duck Han Yum Cha, meaning let's go Yum Cha when we're free. Our goals are to host events that will be centered around Cantonese culture and to meet for Yum Cha to socialize with each other.

Our club welcomes every UCSD student from all backgrounds and levels of proficiency in Cantonese (including those that don't speak the language). Our Community Mentor, Chen Laoshi teaches the Cantonese courses (LIHL 118 & 138) at UCSD!

How It Started

In Spring 2023, a few undergraduate students met during a dragonboat practice hosted by Chen Laoshi. With shared interest in Cantonese Culture, they decided to form a student organization dedicated to spreading and embracing Cantonese Culture.

In Fall 2023, Cantonese Culture Club was officially approved and established.
